Hifdh Curriculum – Baytulilm

Memorising the entire Qur’an is one of the greatest honours and virtues for a Muslim, as is expounded in the following sayings of the Prophet ﷺ

“The best amongst you is he who learns the Qur’an and teaches it.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari)

“It will be said to the companion of the Qur’an: Recite and rise in status, recite as you used to recite in the world, for your status will be at the last verse that you recite.” (Tirmidhi)

“Whosoever learns the Qur’an and practices upon it, then on the Day of Judgement his parents will be made to wear a crown which will be more radiant than the sun if it were to be in your home, so what do you think of the person who has practiced upon it?” (Abu Dawood)

Memorising the Qur’an is also generally easier at a younger age and that is why at Baytul Ilm, we offer a comprehensive hifdh programme based on trusted classical methodologies whilst catering for individual student’s needs by tailoring our approach accordingly. The course commences with ensuring the student has first met the required ‘tajweed’ standard, through to completion of the memorisation of the complete Qur’an.

The Qur’an has a deep spiritual link and as such, we incorporate our ‘tarbiyah’ programme for our hifdh students, all delivered in an engaging and interactive manner to enhance their spiritual development and gain an appreciation of the honour and responsibilities a hafidh is afforded.

Our experience has demonstrated that the average time for a student to complete the memorisation of the Qur’an is 3 years however, this can and does vary based on individual learning experiences and capabilities, which is why our experienced teachers monitor and adjust the approach accordingly. It is also important that parents engage and work in tandem with our hifdh teachers as the home learning environment is paramount to ensuring the best outcomes.
